Spring Break!

I can hardly wait for spring break to arrive. I am overly ecstatic about doing nothing all week. Some might be enjoying a family vacation, but as for me i will probably just work, stay home, and hang out with Lorendo as much as possible. Doing some things just to keep me busy and others to keep me from being majorly bored all spring break. To me the ideal spring break would be spending the whole week we have off with Lorendo and my loser friends like Amber, Hector, and Kaleigh doing someing we all enjoy. Even if that something was just driving around making fun of each other. It would be something that might just happen after all.

8 Is Plenty: Mother Gives Birth to Octuplets Mother gives birth to octuplets at Southern California hospital

Just think: eight cribs, eight highchairs, eight strollers (or maybe four double-strollers), and far too many dirty diapers to count. A woman in Southern California gave birth Monday to the second set of octuplets ever delivered alive in the United States.

Doctors described the six boys and two girls as a feisty bunch who made their entrance kicking and crying and seemed to be doing remarkably well, despite arriving nine weeks premature. They ranged in weight from 1 pound, 8 ounces, to 3 pounds, 4 ounces.

"We were fortunate that this patient was extremely strong, very courageous and able to handle these births," said Dr. Karen E. Maples, who is chief of service for obstetrics and gynecology at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center and delivered Baby No. 8.

No pictures of the children were released, and at the mother's request doctors declined to reveal her name, any information about her family or whether she took fertility drugs before becoming pregnant, though outside experts said it is almost certain she did.

The chances of delivering eight babies naturally are "unbelievably rare," said Dr. Richard Paulson, director of the fertility program at the University of Southern California.

The babies have not been named yet, and the staff assigned them letters A through H in the meantime. They were expected to remain hospitalized for several weeks and could face serious developmental problems later on because of their small size.

"They are doing amazingly well at this time," said Dr. Mandhir Gupta, a neonatologist who was part of the team of 46 doctors, nurses and others who took part in the cesarean section delivery. But he added: "I won't be able to comment on chances of survival because we've never had eight babies born at 30 weeks before."

The odds of survival drop off dramatically in multiple births, particularly if there are more than three babies. The risks include breathing and eating difficulties and growth problems because their lungs and other systems are often underdeveloped. They also may have hearing or vision problems and learning disabilities as they mature.

In fact, the risks in multiple births are so high that when a woman is pregnant with more than three babies, doctors routinely recommend "selective reduction," or aborting some of them. But Dr. Harold M. Henry, director of maternal-fetal medicine for the hospital, would not discuss what took place in this case.

The babies were still in incubators and their mother had not been able to hold them yet. Three had oxygen tubes up their noses to help them breathe. The first four were expected to begin taking milk sometime Tuesday, with the others shortly after that.

"That's the biggest test," Gupta said. "We want to make sure that they start tolerating and digesting the milk."

The woman and her doctors were actually expecting seven children, not eight. The delivery team was thinking the hard work was over after that seventh baby was removed from the womb, when another physician spotted another little hand, Maples said.

The mother reacted calmly to the news, said Dr. Jalil Riazi, an anesthesiologist. "Her question was, 'Really, an eighth baby? How did we miss that baby?'" he said.

The mother had checked into the hospital in her 23rd week and spent nearly two months working with doctors in preparation for the big day. Mainly she got a lot of bed rest, Maples said, while the medical team repeatedly conducted practice sessions.

As word of the births spread people began to call with offers of cribs, strollers, baby clothes and other items, said hospital spokeswoman Carmen Gonzalez.

"We're compiling a list of things that people want to donate," she said, adding the mother will review the list and decide what she needs.

The world's first live octuplets were born in 1967 in Mexico City, but all died within 14 hours, according to Encyclopedia Britannica.

The United States' first live octuplets were born in Houston in 1998, three months premature. The tiniest died a week after the birth. The surviving siblings turned 10 in December and were reported to be doing well by their mother.

"It's wonderful watching them be together. They are happy to have each other. They're doing their homework right now," Nkem Chukwu said Monday.

Alphabet Blog.

A very long time ago, there lived a little young women who lived all alone ,besides her pet, in her home. Although she seemed very affable, or friendly didn't mean the lady was much of a people person. Babbling about the her boring day is something the woman did to anyone that would listen, her cat especially. Casper the friendly black cat is the little old woman's best friend ,and having alot of credence, or trust in him not to tell a soul. Due to some unbelievable circumstances, she lost her loving husband, the only person that knew the chaos that went on in her life. Even the annoying sounds she makes shower. Forever after the accident, she dreamed of horrible things happening to him because she had contrite feelings about things she never said to him. Generally, she would wake up crying over him. However, as weeks passed she thought less about it, and dreamt less of the matter. It seemed like not crying meant forgetting about it, and that wasn't it. Just missing is okay, but she never could stop herself when she remember the little things she missed. Karaoke nights that she abhored with a passion when he was here to be ecstatic about were something she missed more than ever now that he was gone. Lucky for him she never had the guts to sing for him. Mostly she missed the smell that lingered in when he walked through the door. Never once did he walk through the door and she not notice. Only it was totally obvious because he always said "Honey i'm home!" Perhaps maybe if she said, "i love you" more than she wouldn't feel so bad. Quite frankly he would sometimes say "i love you" and she would ignore him and go on with what she was doing. Rather often she figured he would think nothing of it. Sorrow and tears come to her eyes when she thinks about if she didn't say it enough. Through thick and thin he stuck with her and yet she never thanked him. Usually someone might walk in and then walk right back out of your heart when things got tough. Varied disparties held them together for as long as they could. Why, she doesn't understand. X-mas would be extra hard without him this year. Yet maybe just another something she would miss. Zany people will always be remembered if they touched your heart, just like her, James.

Its a dog world!!

My name is Hercules! I'm a massive, ferocious, and loving hairball. My mommy says i slobber way to much and gets mad when i get excited. I can't help the slobber or if i potty accidentally when i get happy, that is just me. And I don't like it when you yell at me, but I can take it because I'm growing up. I'm a big boy and will finally be a year old on some cold day next month coming very soon. I'm an outside dog, but I love to go inside and play with my owners. Gunner might get mad because i get hungry and chew on his toys. He will begin to scream and I think he just wants to play. I jump up excitedly only to be pushed out the door. The thing I love the most about my family is that they know just how to cheer me up!

Just the other day the kids were at school and everyone had left me outside. I was cold and lonely when suddenly from around the house comes Lindsey and her friend. I barked to show her i knew what she was up to. They both hurridly stood by the gate. I was wagging my tail and ready to jult at them when they walked through the gate. I looked at her in a confused stare, slobber dripping from my jaws. Her friend looked frightened ,but Lindsey assured her that i was to playful to hurt her. Then Lindsey opened the gate and i stood still waiting for her to take a run for it. I knew what she was going to do. She was going to try and make it to that big, huge, white obstacle I can never seem to manage tojump on. I saw her think about it before i began to chase her. She began to make a dash for the truck and I took off like a bullet. I might still have my baby fat ,but I can run. Then out of no where the girl about Lindsey's age made a run for it. I was overwelmed with joy. The girl screamed and Lindsey just laughed.

The girl made it to the truck and they both sat there breathing heavily. I threw my front paws on to the tailgate. Huffing and Puffing the girls race around the truck with me and their heels. I didn't mean to soak them down with the siliva pouring from my mouth. The girls didn't seem to mind because they were having a blast. The good thing was so was I.

I love my family and even though i'm not as little as all the other puppies that bark at me through gate, i'm pretty sure they love me back!

Christmas Cheer :)

It was one freezing night and the house was cozy and warm. It was the night before Christmas and the excitement was overbearing. Kids snug in the their bed trying to wait for Santa to come eat mother's famous chocolate chip cookies made by her famous helpers. Of course her helpers were Johnny and Kinsey, her children. They were trying to keep their pretty blue eyes open, yet it wasn't quite working. When the kids were finally asleep in their beds, their parents stuffed there stocking full of little gifts and joys for Johnny and Kinsey. Also they crammed all the precious treasure and presents under the tree. When they finished putting out the gift for the children and when the other wasn't looked slipped a few secret present for one another under the tree. After awhile they sit and eat those cookies the kids had sat out for Santa.

The next morning the parents were awakened by the sound of screaming children jumping on the bed yelling, "Hurry its Christmas!" Everyone rushed and piled into the living room and open the gift. Everybody was overjoyed with the presents they had received. But mom had only gotten one gift. Dad smiled and took from out of his pocket a box. Mom happen to notice and gasp. Dad opened the box and said, "Merry Christmas Honey!" The gift was a brand new diamond ring, and she loved it. The Christmas was everyone enjoyed.
